There's an old song that goes like this, "Oh what a difference a day makes" and yet sometimes, it's not even a day, it's an hour, or it's ten minutes.  In the last three days, I have received compliments via two cards, 2 phone calls and public acknowledgement from clients and family.  Their praise and compliments made me feel fantastic and got me thinking about how we have the power to uplift or deny the people in our life.  

"How are you today?"

"Oh, I've had an awful day, this happened, and that happened, and I feel so bad, and it's all terrible...Oh woe is me."

versus:  "How are you today?"  

"Fantastic!  I feel terrific!"

Which answer made you feel alive?  Which person do you want to be around?  Personally, I pay compliments whenever I can and listen as much as I can.  Listening is a gift for the other person, and often we forget that we don't have the power to fix things for him or her, but we do have the power to just listen and understand.

Take a look at the 30 Ways to Give below, and get started.  You'll find that you have a fantastic day and that you have benefited more than the people to whom you gave.  

I would be thrilled if we could get this list to 100, so email me with your ideas, and I will keep adding to it and send it around.

  1. Send a Thank You note with your next Invoice

  2. Send a Thank You card to a referrer

  3. Send a $1 scratchy and Thank You note for payment

  4. Send a newspaper clipping about your client's industry to your client

  5. Call your client and tell them how much you love dealing with him or her because they are a joy to be around

  6. Write Thank You notes to each of your staff

  7. SMS a Thank You to each of your staff

  8. Send flowers to staff when a project is beginning, in the middle or ending. 

  9. Take your newest recruit to lunch and get to know him or her as a person.

  10. Send every person who gives you feedback, a gift, even if you didn't like the feedback.

  11. Go and ask a competitor what you can do to help him or her in their business, and remember, this is an abundant universe and you are an abundant person.

  12. Take a client to a competitor's event 

  13. Write a note of compliments to a competitor

  14. Attend client events as support, an extra pair of hands, or advocate

  15. Call your clients and tell them when you have had great service from a business.  They might want such service too.

  16. Praise the taxi-driver for arriving safely at your destination (don't tell him or her you prayed the whole way!)

  17. Praise the barista for a perfect cup of coffee.

  18. Smile at the surly waiter and say "It's a beautiful day, isn't it?"

  19. Praise the chef!

  20. Help someone when they fall, without judging him or her.

  21. Give a donation to a homeless person, especially if you never do it

  22. Help out at a local charity event

  23. Let someone into your driving lane

  24. Help the planet - turn the lights off for an hour and use candles

  25. Give someone a hug (even yourself!)

  26. Tell someone how much you appreciate him or her

  27. Tell someone a joke and uplift their mood

  28. Stop spreading negativity (How are you today?  Oh, you wouldn't believe what happened to me... this happened and...) and focus on the positives. 

  29. Just listen with love in your heart, and really listen because you don't have to fix it, just love whoever it is, love the situation and look for the positives.  (Even if the positive is that the person is in so much pain that they have to move forward, that's a positive!)

  30. Give thanks to your Subconscious for everything you have in your life, and thanks to the God or Goddess of your beliefs.

What's been happening at Sales Champions? 


Hi there [firstname]

Oh life is so good! And so busy! For those of you who notice, you will be aware that the newsletter did not go out last month and that was because we were just too busy. And now, another month has slipped away before we know it, as time speeds up.  

It's only 6 weeks to go before I head overseas, and the countdown is now on! Trip has been booked and paid for, travel insurance organised, last minute dental and doctor's checkups occurring this week, Visa in process, and maybe a last minute alteration to the ticket to visit Chicago and attend a course there, instead of New York! Accommodation coming together nicely, my friend Anette from The Netherlands awaits me, as does Ann-Sofie in Belgium (who interned for us last year) and my paper for 5,000 attendees at the 8th International Conference for Quality Management just needs polishing! 

Plus, the Nepal trip has been organised and people are booking to attend in September, how about that?  Phew!  I daren't think about presenting to 2,500 people at a time - it just gives me goosebumps!  The conference is actually held twice to accommodate so many people.

Plus, this month I have recorded Relaxation CDs with the wonderful Ian Harvey at Harvey's Bedlander Studio up at Eumundi.

And guess what?  I (Narelle) will be wearing gorgeous designer clothes from a new fashion range, Thea & Sami, that feature the Brisbane skyline, or tropical palms, or Queenslander homes hand-printed on quality linen. If you're in Brisbane, call in to Theas' workshop and see how she creates her beautiful fashions - Saturdays in June (except for the last one) - at 61 - 63 Steele Street, Capalaba.

The other night, Narelle attended the 2nd Birthday Party for Healthy Inspirations Mt Gravatt, which was wonderful.  Nikki and Michael were business coaching clients of mine last year, and it is just fantastic to see them growing their business as they are.  5 of their clients did a "reveal" and we saw the before photos, and then these gorgeous women modeled Thea & Sami's fashions, which were just stunning.  Congratulations Nikki and Michael and Happy Birthday to you!!

And, we have been dancing again, which has been a real delight, at Fusion Dance Company, in Hubert St, Woolloongabba. 

Woolloongabba Business Association went well on Friday evening June 1, at 5.30pm. Thanks for those who came along.  There was $2,500 worth of prizes to be won.. Watch out for the next one - for members it's only $5, for non-members $20.  Contact me to book in.
