7 Tough Questions on being Attractive

by Narelle Stratford

[This article will focus on scenarios and situations, while the next few articles will give solutions to the problems.]

Do you want to be successful in your life?

Well, if you do, you need to make sure that you are "attractive" to success.

Now, being attractive in the context of success is not about being "pretty" or "handsome".

We all know people who are very "attractive" of love, friends, career or business success, and many other parts of their life - without being someone who is overly "physically" attractive, don't we?

Your "attractiveness" is more to do with your personal qualities and actions that will attract others to you.  So, let's see how you rate yourself.

  1. How Trustworthy are you?

For you to be trusted, it is more than just saying "I'm an honest person, so you can trust me."

Think of phone calls you don't get round to returning and phone calls you put off making because you don't want to be the bearer of bad news.

How about actions you don't take because you had something else to do, or promises you broke to clients, family members or friends?

  2. How well do you take care of yourself?

Have you heard the story about the wood cutter whose productivity was falling way behind?  He just wasn't chopping down enough trees.

When the owner of the plantation came to see him, she asked, "what's going on?  You're way behind.."

The wood cutter said, "My axe is really blunt so it takes a lot longer to chop these thick trees down."

The owner said, "How often do you sharpen the blade?" The wood cutter replied, "I don't have time to take care of that, I'm too busy."

Sounds stupid, doesn't it, that the wood cutter was too busy, being busy, to sharpen the blade of his axe?

Yet, you know and I know that there are lots of times we've been too busy being busy, and not taking care of ourself means we suffer and our business suffers the blunt edge of the axe.

  3. How fulfilling and satisfying is your life?

What would you write if you wrote a business plan for your life?  Do you love what you're doing?

Or, are you tired, moody, unhappy, cranky, and stressed?  How attractive is that?

  4. How much respect do you have for others?

When you arrive late for appointments, take phone calls during meetings, or even while you're already on another call, cut people off when they speak, talk over the top of them, and put others down, you're demonstrating a huge lack of respect.

  5. What are you the Master of?

Are you the Master of yourself? Do you drink more than you should, forget to exercise, eat the wrong food more often than not?

In business, do you follow highly consistent and regular routines?

    Do you have Business Mastery?

  6. What awareness do you have of your faults?

Or, do you have a green tail?  Listen up and I'll share the green tail story with you.

One day, I was told by someone that I had a green tail.  "No, I don't", I said, feeling very annoyed.

A day later, someone else came up to me and said, "did you know that you've got a green tail"?  "Don't be ridiculous", I said, with a very dismissive tone.

Then, over the next week, everywhere I went, someone brought up the green tail until I decided it was a conspiracy!  At that point, I was forced to take a good, long hard look at myself... and angrily conceded, maybe I do have a green tail.

Your green tail could be that you don't listen, that you won't take advice, that you only do what you want to do, that you're irresponsible... whatever it is, if someone shares a perception or observation of you and takes the time to share it with you, then it's probably true.

Hear it from a few people and ignore it at your peril.

  7. How loving and generous are you?

Is your philosophy one of abundance in all things?

Or are you mean with your love, your smiles, your laughter, your kind words, your help and support?  Meanness is ugly.

So, what do you think?

Are you highly attractive and acting like a magnet that draws clients, friends and colleagues, easily and effortlessly to you?  If you're not, then the next article will have some in-depth information for you to read, learn and grow with, very attractively.
