12 Success Tips for the New Real Estate Market!

From all around the country (Australia) and particularly in Brisbane, Agents are asking themselves "What's happening?  Where have all the buyers gone?" 

From a boom market, where you could barely fight buyers off with a stick, now listings are staying on the books for weeks, even months.

The Vendors seem to have no particular hurry to sell, the buyers (when you can find one) are "kicking tyres" and generally, the good times seem to have stopped.

For a lot of Agents with less than 2 years under their belts, it seems that there's no light at the end of the tunnel.

However, for those who have been around for longer than that, memories of the "old days" are beginning to resurface.

Well, the truth is that now is the start of the "real" market - one where Agents actually have to provide the service that they are paid for.

Real estate like every other business, has it's ups and downs. The real test of an Agent is how well they cope with this transition phase.

And the key to success will be the same as it is for every other business in every other industry - the buyers and sellers are still out there - but you will have to do more to find them than you have had to do for some time.

Now is the time to take stock of your business and ask the hard questions - like:

  • What makes me different?

  • How am I better than my competition?

  • and what does the market want from me that will bring business my way?

Make no mistake - the successful Agents will be successful in any market anywhere.  Because they will be doing the basics that make their business successful:

  • Their prospecting will be ongoing

  • Their Client contact will be phenomenal

and 

  • Their service offering will be so awesome that Vendors will be knocking their door down!

So what do you have to do, so that you can get more than your share?

First, let's look at some of the basics that make any business successful.

  1. Game plan - know what you do and what you want

  2. Risk reversal - take or at least share the risk with your Clients

  3. Attention Grabbing Marketing - tell them that you have the solutions to their problems - and deliver!

  4. Client Nurturing - build relationships, so you can comfortably ask for (and get) referrals

  5. Positioning - know what you stand for in the market - and make sure that your market knows it too!

  6. Networking - get amongst the people who can help you grow your business

  7. Education - make it your task to find out better ways, find out what your market cares about - and do something with that knowledge

  8. Test - test ways of finding your market - and keep on testing, even when you think you've got it right

  9. Persist - keep on doing

  10. Keep improving everything, every day

  11. Manage your time - do the things that are dollar productive - if that means learning to say NO - then learn how!

  12. And finally (for now) - take action!!
